"Sympathy, Said The Shark" is a kind of cool, weird experiment shot entirely from the point of view of the film’s various characters, with the story changing depending on whose POV we’re seeing. It follows a young couple (Melinda Cohen & Lea Coco) who during a severe storm reluctantly open their door to their estranged, soaked, and bloodied friend (Dominic Bogart) who insists that someone is trying to kill him. As the night progresses, each person’s perspective uncovers a darker secret until a much deadlier threat comes knocking.

The movie has been presented at Portland Film Festival in Portland, OR on September 6th, 2015 and won the audience award.

Before the online release of the movie, there have been screenings for the audience in Phoenix, AZ on January 9th, 2016; Chicago, IL on January 11th, 2016; Rochester, NY on January 13th, 2016; and the official one in Los Angeles, CA on January 15th, 2016.

Zak appeared in the movie playing a cameo and he has been one of the special guests at the SStS Premiere in Phoenix, AZ.

"Sympathy, Said The Shark" è una sorta di ripresa cinematografica figa e strana filmata interamente dal punto di vista dei vari personaggi del film, con la storia che cambia a seconda del POV di chi stiamo vedendo. Riguarda una giovane coppia (Melinda Cohen & Lea Coco) che durante una tempesta violenta apre con riluttanza la porta di casa al loro amico estraniato, fradicio ed insanguinato (Dominic Bogart) che insiste dicendo che qualcuno sta cercando di ucciderlo. Mentre la notte avanza, la prospettiva di ogni persona svela un segreto più oscuro finché una minaccia molto più mortale viene a bussare.

PLOT SUMMARY

When a young couple reluctantly answers their door during a storm, in rushes their estranged friend, soaked, bloodied, and insistent that someone is trying to kill him. The night is soon sent off the rails, as all three must confront their own darkest secrets – and each other – in the face of a powerful threat that comes knocking. The story is told with innovative camera work, shifting from the explicit first person point-of-view of each of its three protagonists. Each time the POV shifts, there is an overlap of time where we see or hear something that the previously character missed, forcing the viewer (and the characters) to reconsider who’s good, who’s bad, and what’s really going on.

Quando una giovane coppia apre con riluttanza la porta di casa durante una tempesta, vi entra di corsa l'amico estraniato, fradicio, insanguinato ed insistente nel dire che qualcuno sta cercando di ucciderlo. La notte ben presto degenera nel momento in cui i tre devono confrontarsi con i loro segreti più oscuri – l'uno con l'altro – di fronte ad una potente minaccia che viene a bussare. La storia è raccontata con un lavoro di riprese innovativo, saltando dal punto di vista esplicito della prima persona a quello di ognuno dei suoi tre protagonisti. Ogni volta che il POV cambia, c'è una sovrapposizione del tempo in cui vediamo e sentiamo qualcosa che il personaggio precedente si era perso, forzando lo spettatore (e i personaggi) a riconsiderare chi è buono, chi è cattivo, e cosa sta davvero succedendo.
